As others have noted, you have to take apart a few pieces of the grill to get to this part; which makes it a good time to replace other parts of your grill that need attention. That being said, this is such an item of convenience (particularly if you grill year round) that it is well worth the time and effort to install. My Weber (a Silver B) is a good 10 years old now and still runs like a champ. Outside of new flavorizer bars every so often and a new set of grates a couple of years ago, I think this might be my first real "repair" to the grill.

Our ignitor came in a timely manner and worked great. Our grill is getting older so we find ourselves needing to make a few updates, but to date we've been happy with our Weber grill. I bought the Weber replacement igniter after trying a generic one from a local store. I never could get the generic to work. Save yourself the headache and buy the correct one first, follow the installation directions exactly. This one made my grill work like new again.

Weber makes their grills to last, and part of that is offering replacement parts at reasonable prices. These igniters usually last around 5 years of heavy use before part of it fails (usually the stainless steel igniter box), though you can sometimes revive a dead igniter by cleaning the gunk out of it.

Anyway, this igniter takes around five minutes to install. Make sure you poke the small metal tab through the small bottom hole rather than trying to squeeze it into the main igniter hole.

I'm rebuilding an old Weber BBQ and this is just one of the parts I'm using ... Along with new burners and new flavourizer bars. Even with all the parts costs it will be much less expensive than buying a replacement grill.
