4Best Fabric Cement with PatienceJan 22, 2009

I've used this product for about two years. Unfortunately, even though I kept it tightly closed, the bottle dried up into a big clump of plastic. However, before that I used it on numerous items including lamp shades, jeans, fur jacket, wall paper, etc. It takes a little time to learn how to use it properly so patience is needed here. Once you get it on something, you cannot remove it. However, I'm ordering a new, smaller bottle.

The product works just as they say. It can be a lifesaver. The only problem is the shelf life of the product - it dries out in the bottle and becomes useless. The 16 oz bottle is not a good size for the average person as it will dry out in the bottle before you use it all. Most tears only use a little of the liquid - if you can purchase a smaller amount then it is worth it - but if you get the 16 oz bottle you will throw away three quarters of the bottle a year later because it dried up in the bottle.

It's good enough for a bachelor to neatly cuff Levis for keeps. Forget the cap spout; remove the cap and dip glue out on an ice cream stick (from a hobby shop) and dab along seam edge 4" to 6" at a time, smearing along the line and pressing down the edge as you go. Start with cuffs ironed to a crease. 1-1/2 or 2-inch cuffs. Don't soak fabric, just coat it. Follow-up by sealing the cut edges. Wearable immediately. Washable, no problems.

I have saved well over a thousand dollars worth of Jeans with this. Its great. Use small dots of glue smear with a pop cycle stick or craft stick. Do not put to much on or it will show thru the fabric. But it works great.

I have used Tear mender for years, it is fantastic on my bib overalls and my welding leathers, it can be messy but it does the job. What I do for a living it doesn't matter if I spill a lil here or there, I am not working construction for a fashion show. If I get some on my hands.... no biggie it dries and peels right off. ANYWHERE IT TOUCHES FABRIC IT WILL STICK. I glue fabric on fabric, leather on fabric, leather on leather and I even used it on my work boots once. Great stuff!!
I made my Purchase from BICsuperstore Great price and a decent shipping price. I would make sure if you are to buy the large bottle like i did you make sure to reseal the bottle. It will harden over time and you will have a solid bottle of rubber.
