4Good tool, but not perfect.Apr 27, 2010

First, this is a pretty good value for a hammer-tacker. You have to give it a good swing, and it will set staples nicely when you do. A limp half-ass swing will leave the staples standing out. When it does happen, just turn it around and the back side has a decent hammer surface to bang the staples the rest of the way down. So far, there is no complaint. Unfortunately, the loader mechanism has a flaw. Loading new staples is easy. Just push a little on the yellow plastic end piece to release the spring, and it comes right out. The problem is that it is easy to bump this plastic piece while using it and it will pop open and drop the load of staples, which fall to the ground. This is really annoying when you are on a ladder, stapling (or trying to staple) house-wrap and you have to temporarily abandon your productive job for a couple minutes to go down and gather up the staples from the ground. I looked carefully at this mechanism. I don't see any obvious way to drill and pin, or safety-wire the plastic latch to prevent this problem. The low cost of this tool is nice, but I can not give it five stars because of the design DEFECT. Yes, it is a DEFECT. It is a pity that the engineers did not bother to actually use this tool, but on balance I feel it is still a good buy.

I receved the wrong item. I can buy that hammer tacker for less in an hardware store. So that was my first and last time.

We were looking for the PHT250c tacker and what we got was the Fat Max--We do not like these tackers and are very disappointed in what we received..To me that is false advertisement!!
