5Ergonomic, slick, and easy to useOct 22, 2009

This hammer is a little more money than I'd typically want to spend on a hammer, but seeing that I don't imagine I'll need to buy that many hammers I thought I would spend some extra money and buy this FatMax AntiVibe hammer. I wasn't disappointed! As doubtful as I was about the whole reducing arm/wrist fatigue while hammering due to the anti vibration bands inside the handle it truly does work. The hammer has a good weight and feels well balanced. An interesting feature (one I doubt I'll ever use, but it's "neat") is the magnetic nail guide. You put the nail along the canal and give it a good wack, and sure enough it actually drives the nail into the material you're putting it in. One issue I have with it, however, is that I rarely hit the nail exactly where I wanted it to go, so for accuracies sake I won't be using the magnetic nail driving feature. Hand idea though for projects where accuracy doesn't need to be precise.

I bought this hammer after I had used my old wood handled ones to drive in a few nails. My arm was sore the next day. Granted I hadn't done it in a while, but I felt the shocks from hammering.

I received the Stanley hammer and used it on another project. The hammer feels solid and balanced and drives the nails in well, the head surface is larger than I've normally seen, which is nice. I drove in many nails for the project, and I didn't feel any of the shocks I had felt while using my old hammer. Also the next day my arm was just fine.

I can't attest the the longevity of the hammer, since I've just used it for one project.

I purchased this when the price had dropped, so it was pretty much the same cost as a wooden or fiberglass handled one. I don't know how the modern wooden/fiberglass handled hammers are, since the wood one I have is quite old. I can't really make a comparison.

Bottom line, it looks like a quality made hammer, and my hand/arms were not sore after using it.

For most people, the Stanley 51-162 Hammer is probably the best claw hammer on the market. I am in no way an expert on hamemers; I like screws, when it is possible to use them. However, there are times when only a nail will do. When those times come, what better tool can you have than a claw hammer with a shock-absorbing tuning fork built into the handle?

The face is 75% larger than the average claw hammer. To put the icing on the cake, the price is very reasonable. In my view, there is no better brand of hand tools than Stanely. The item arrived timely and in excellent condition. I am extremely pleased with the Stanley 51-162 16 oz FatMax Xtreme AntiVibe Curve Claw Nailing Hammer that I purchased from Amazon.com and heartily recommend it to others.

I tried this hammer out soon after it arrived, to test it against the reviews I'd read, and found it to be as promised. It has a great feel and balance, and the large head is a plus for making sure each strike hits solidly on the nails.

I would wear light gloves while using this hammer, however, especially if your hands aren't calloused enough, because the grip can cause a bit of a pinching feel. However, this is certainly not a problem, as this grip ensures the hammer stays within your grasp while swinging it.

Good looking hammer, too! I would say that due to the anti-vibration structure as well its balance makes sure that user fatigue will be kept at a minimum, at least compared to most hammers.

By checking reviews in combo with each manufacturer's advertising, I feel fortunate in each purchase I've made at Amazon thus far. I am collecting small tools to fill a new bag I bought at Amazon, making sure I study everything I can about each one, so I can be assured that when I haul the bag out to do some work, everything inside will be of good quality. This hammer was certainly a very good choice for this collection.
