4Nice, but not perfectApr 19, 2009
By Jeremy Miles "Jeremy Miles"
In many ways this is a great knife - it feels well made and sturdy, and it's really, really sharp. I have three pretty small criticisms:
1) The action to open and close it is a little more complicated than it could be. Every time you get it from your pocket, it adds a few seconds opening and closing it - other similar Stanley knives have a faster action.
2) It's a teeny bit small. Another half inch longer and it would fit better in my hand.
3) The blade is either in, or out, you can't put it half way and lock it. When I'm doing something like opening boxes, only have (say) a quarter inch of blade out means I'm less likely to cut too far.

5Great knifeOct 03, 2008
By Helen Wheels
My husband uses a box knife at work every day to cut cables, wires, plastic, and cardboard. The knife he was using broke in his hand and cut his finger. I saw this one and based on the brand name, I bought it for him. He loves it and told me it's the best knife he's used.

5My favorite boxcutterJan 12, 2011

I carry this tool everywhere, but mainly use it at both of my two jobs for shipping/receiving work. I have tried four different, similar styled tools and this one works for me because of it's weight (which is nice and heavy deterring erratic cuts), it's compact design that fits into the hand nicely, and acceptably secure action required to open the blade.

The blade-sliding mechanism can get a little drug down after six months of use, but if you have access to some small screwdrivers, you can open it up and lubricate the action. This procedure should not be required for any utility knife, and it's not for this knife, but I preferred to have mine open as smoothly as possible.

I was very dissapointed when they discontinued this model, but at least it can still be found online.

I've used Stanley knifes for years and this one is the best they make. The blade holder retracts well and the blades are very easy to change.

5AWESOME KNIFE!!!!Jan 04, 2011

I have been working warehouses for a few years now. I LOVE this knife. It's the perfect size and hangs out right there on my packet. I like that fact that it is so easy to open. At first though it is a little difficult until you break it in. I literally open it more than 100 times per day. I use it mainly on boxes and tape, but I have used it for so many more applications. I go through 2-3 of these per year. I do recommend adding some lock-tite to the screws that hold the pocket clip onto the knife. They do have a tendency to loosen up. I really use the heck out of this knife (and I truly mean I use the HECK out of it EVERY DAY!) The only other pitfall to this knife is that the metal wears out at the little groove where it locks into place. SO after a long time of use, the blade has a tendency to push closed when pressure is applied to the blade. I just solve that by using my dremel tool and making the slot a little deeper so it stays put, then after that I just buy a new one. I would rather go through this knife a few times per year then have to deal with the sport model of this knife or the other bulky knives or flip-open lock back style knives that are out there on the market.

The worst thing is that this knife is getting more and more difficult to find!!!
