Obtained more for snowplow and winter corrosion issues than vandals - Very heavy and strong mailbox. Already has survived two plow encounters - found in snowbank w/out damage. This brings up the only negative - The plastic mailbox-to-post adapter plates found in most hardware stores are inadequate for the weight of the box under these conditions - I am still looking for a steel adapter plate

With in about 1 month of getting this beast it was put to the test. Just before going to bed about 1 am I heard lots of loud bangs outside. I knew exactly what it was. the vandals took off and I went to survey the damage. Mine just had some minor pings from a crow bar while the neighbors was pretty much flattened. It is still sitting pretty as we speak. Well worth the money!!!

It's going to be a surprise when a local teenager attempts to vandalize our new mailbox. It's so tuff that it will be WORK to inflict any visible change and we all know teenagers resist WORK . So do what you can to be a contrarian to the local vandals...buy a tuff box.

As most people have been vandalized by drive-by attacks from baseball bats etc. I had to replace my light-weight aluminum mailbox. Shopping around I felt that it was time to get something that was "immune" to destruction. This is pretty close, it is definitly a heavy-weight, piano hinged door, recessed opening, and very attactive. Shipment was very prompt and suffered no damage, even the shipping carton. Mounting required some spacers as this box is about an inch wider than the old box. Just got some stainless steel washers and nuts&bolts, put it up in a few minutes. Got some very favorable comments from the letter carrier.
