5Works Great.Jul 21, 2006
By E. Ongerth
The Ugly gets the job done. It's not what you'd call a precision tool, but you can't beat it for its intended purpose. I needed to make long rip cuts on the end of a dozen peeler cores (round 6" wood posts) to square the last 12" of the posts in order to lag-bolt them to the joists of a deck. Making half-depth crosscuts on large round stock, and especially making long rip cuts on large round stock without having to set up a jig or use a chainsaw, were perfect applications for this blade. The Ugly blade ate through the wood quickly and in a controllable/steerable manner.

Pruning: works great. If you put this blade in a cordless Sawzall you will cut much more wood per battery charge, compared to ordinary construction type recip saw blades. The deep gullets and fleam ground (2-way cut) teeth on The Ugly are why it works so well, just like an old fashioned bow saw. With the Ugly in my 18V DeWalt DW385 I can cut a lot of branches or do a lot of trailwork without the noise or weight of a chainsaw.

5Great for cutting limbs, branches, and ground roots.Jun 23, 2010
By R. Lofing
I discovered these blades 4 years ago and immediately fell in love with them. These blades go above and beyond ALL other types of pruning blades I have used. Even when cutting tree roots in the dirt, they continue cutting long after other types of blades have become dull and unusable. I also have used the 12 inch version (Bosch brand, but identical design and reliability) of this blade. It works just as well for larger jobs.

I have one warning though. When cutting larger branches or tree roots (4 or 6 inches in diameter), KEEP THE BLADE LUBRICATED with WD-40 or other lubricants. The job will go much easier and take much less effort.

5Lets your reciprocating saw do the work of a small chain saw!Sep 30, 2007
By Darla
I got one of these blades in a package of assorted blades.

One day I popped the blade in my son's cordless saw to cut down some wild saplings. Fast and easy! I kept cutting progressively larger trees and branches and this blade could handle about anything!

Back at home I put the blade in my corded saw and was able to cut through a 6" diameter branch by cutting a deep notch then sawing through.

Using this blade in your recriprocating saw takes care of all those pruning jobs too big for pruners and too small to fire up the chain saw.

Stays sharp a long time too!

4Not too badSep 04, 2008

I purchased "Skil 94100-05 Pruning Reciprocating Saw Blades" specifically to use in pruning a flowering pear and a couple live oak trees. Since none of the branches have a diameter greater than 5 inches I thought they would work. Turns out I was right, they were able to walk through the limbs fairly well IF I supplied pressure to the branch to widen the kerf as I cut. The teeth need to be offset from each other to widen the cut as you go. Otherwise, the blade gets really hot, smokes and I would imagine hurts any tempering the blade may have started with. They get the job done, but they could be improved.

5Pruning bladesDec 25, 2007

Great pruning blades for your reciprocating saw and the price is hard to beat. Walk into a Home Depot or a Lowes and compare the price found here on Amazon... Less than $3 per blade on Amazon while $5.40 at Home Depot per blade when you add the tax and that doesn't include the cost of gas to drive down to Home Depot. A great value for the money.
