This attaches a 1.5" hose to a 2.5" inch attachment or dust-port. Since the hose fits inside the attachment, this will not allow you to attach a 2.5" host to a 1.5" attachment or dust port. For example, this will not attach a shop-vac hose to a machine with a 1.5" dust port.

This allows me to use a Ridgid Shop Vac WD970, a 9 gallon with 1 1/2" ID hose end, to the 2 1/4" ID Dewalt DW745 exhaust. The product says 2-1/2", but it has an OD of 2-1/4" and fits inside the DW745 exhaust. It fits snug to the Dewalt, but is a bit loose on the Shop vac but suction keeps it on while in use. Neither Ridgid nor Dewalt customer support knew about this item. Ridgid told me to buy a 2-1/2" new hose (cost $20). This saved me $15. Good buy. Hardware stores probably have it, along with entertaining employees. If you don't need that, buy from Amazon and get free shipping.

This adaptor is {2-1/4"OD} to 1-1/2"OD
The 'Shop-Vac' adaptor is well made.

Other adpators have size errors too.
Buy a bunch of diffent ones, and try them to you find the right combination.

I bought this to connect a hose from my Ridgid radial arm saw to my dust collector. The 1 1/2" side fits perfectly inside the blade guard dust fitting.

I have a regular shop-vac and a 10" hitachi miter saw. This converter has exactly the same sizes on both ends. They won't fit for any ways. You will need 2-1/4 to 1-1/4 converter and I have ordered it to see.
