EXCELLENT TOOL!Feb 25, 2008
By J. Adkerson I have owned this tool for over a year now and have driven at least 1000 screws with it with ZERO problems. I am an avid DIY'er and am remodeling our house and when it comes time to hang drywall, this tool is an asset! The depth control works very well and just sinks the screws below the surface of the drywall and the head of the plunger leaves just the right dimple to fill with compound. I have used this tool while remodeling 3 rooms of our home and for installing sheets of drywall in a garage addition and all I can say is I LOVE THIS TOOL! If you are going to be installing drywall and are considering this product to speed things up, GO FOR IT! you won't be dissapointed! I have not tried this product for screws longer than 1-1/4 but if I need to build a quick frame for something, I doubt i'll be dissapointed.

Hit and missJul 21, 2009
By Average Joe When I first purchased this gun, the reviews were positive. Seems, lately, these guns are becoming more inferior. How fortunate for those that were able to receive one that works properly. Initially, my gun worked great, sinking screws at the speed of light making for a quick drywall job. After about 6 sheets, the screws would become stuck in the plastic strip and would have to be removed manually. This problem continued to worsen until no screws would eject through the strip. The screw strips were the recommended Senco strips. Amazon's retailer (Noble) agreed to immediately replace the gun with a new one. The second gun produced similar results. This time after about 8 sheets, the slide would not retract at all while the motor was activated which would not allow the screw to be inserted even a short distance into the drywall. It appeared that the slide was in need of lubrication, yet, the manual specifically states not to lubricate it. Oddly, the slide would retract easily as long as the trigger was not engaged. Noble has agreed to accept the second faulty gun and will issue a full refund. Currently, they are no longer stocking this item.

Excellent time saver!!Oct 01, 2007

What a wonderful tool! Hung a new ceiling with this tool and a jack by myself - much easier to have the screw gun loaded and ready to go when your other hand is holding the drywall up. Also speeds up the hanging process ten-fold. You can easily hang a 4X8 sheet in under a minute - I'd never come close to that with my old drywall screw gun. I was looking at a new makita gun for $79, and for the extra $20 it was well worth having the autofeed. I would recommend this tool to anyone doing decking, drywall, strapping, etc. work.

Excellent tool!Oct 17, 2009
By mbhnm I have had this Senco gun for about two weeks now and have driven over 2000 screws with it. I have a set of Senco nailers that I have had for nearly two years that have proved to be practically bullet proof, so I expected the Duraspin to be a quality product. So far it has not disappointed; we have run over 2000 screws and have yet to replace even the bit. Here are some observations.
First, if you are only doing a sheet or two and have plenty of help, the Duraspin is overkill. If, however, you plan to do more than that -- or you are hanging rock by yourself, this gun is well worth the price. Anyone who has tried to hold sheetrock in place, fumble for a screw, get it on the gun and then get it in the wall will appreciate the Duraspin instantly. My assistants and I figured that it took our best man an average of about 15 minutes to set screws (about 50) with a manual screw gun in an 4x12 sheet. With the Duraspin the process takes less than 2 minutes.
Second, it takes a little time and practice to get the gun set up properly. We set 1 5/8" screws through 1/2" sheetrock, plaster and lath. Once set properly, we can set about 95% of screws to the proper depth on the first try. Of the remaining 5%, about half did not set due to operator error -- pressing too hard, not holding the gun straight, etc. For the 5% that you miss, you will need a manual screw gun or a drill to finish setting the screws. Still well worth the time.
Third, we found it necessary to lube the screw advance mechanism about twice a day. Dust and plastic residue seems to build up and can cause the slider that advances the screws to stick. When ours starts to stick we spray it with WD-40 and wipe of the residue, and it is good for about another half a day.
Based on our experience with the Senco Duraspin, I would recommend it to anyone who is planning to do a sheetrock project. It is a quality professional tool which, used properly, can exponentially speed up the drywall process.

Does a Great Job - MostlyMar 25, 2011
By John L. Wright I was looking forward to putting in ~ 2000 cement board screws and another 2000 screws to hold down underlayment. I decided to purchase this Senco gun.
The good: (and it's mostly all good): Man does this gun lay the screws in fast. I pay a guy $25 / hour to help me and the money I spent on the gun and collated screws paid for itself in both time and aggravation. Zip - pop - bam, the screw is in and waiting for you to tell it where the next one goes. It made what would have been a miserable job fun. My gun came with a Philips bit and two square head bits. It is easily adjustable for depth and even has an adjustment so you can countersink the screws a bit. Very cool.
The bad: The only niggle I would have with this gun is the logistics. I tore the grooves off the end of the Philips bit that came with it in short order and then went on a merry tour to many local home improvement stores and then even a Senco dealer. None of them had bits ( or collated screws) to fit. I ended up placing an order back with Amazon to get the bit. I found that Milwaukee brand collated screws fit just as well. I ordered all these, round 2, from Amazon.
Bottom line: When you use this gun, be sure to plan in advance and get the screws and extra bits you might need from Amazon. Be sure to use the square headed screws and bits, the Philips bits don't last long.
