5Easy install and great lockJan 18, 2012
By Sigara "sigara"
Just to clarify this is a panic lock. This means that a person on the inside of the room can never be locked in. It is not a defect but by design. We have this for safety reasons and it is very useful. He lock took 5 mins
to install. Compared to the deadbolt I installed that is about 10 mins less time.

The installation is straight foward and involved lining up the knobs when placed within the door cavity. If you have a unit that already does not turn then the mechanism maybe misaligned.

Overall very good lock

4Easy to install, but don't get locked out!Jul 17, 2011
By K's Mommy "K's Mommy"
Overall, I'm please with my purchase. The product was easy to install and came with both rounded door jam hardware and square. One thing to be aware of with this hardware is: When the door is locked, the knob still turns on the inside, so it's easy to lock yourself out.

1KEY ONLY WORKED IN IT FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKSMar 11, 2012
By C. Peters "Working 12-5"
I was locked out of my house today because my key to this very lock, would not work anymore. I only bought it on Feb 29th 2012. Less than two weeks ago. Was this lock made in China? Or is it just poor craftmanship on the part of Schlage? My two married daughters, to whom I gave a copy of the key came over to my rescue, only to find their keys to my house would not work either. So I drove 2 hours round trip to my husband's place of employment to get his key thinking it might work. But when reached home, his original key would not work either. On his set of keys was a key to the backdoor, which thank goodness worked. If I can't depend on the lock to unlock properly, what use is it. Now I have to find one that I can depend on. Perhaps I will be less upset in a few days, but today's experience is too fresh on my mind to be less upset than I am at this moment. DO NOT BUY THIS DOOR LOCK. IT CANNOT BE TRUSTED. Any comments on a VERY DEPENDABLE LOCK they know of would be so very appreciated.

5Very solid door knobFeb 29, 2012

Rekeyed it myself with the Schlage Compatible Rekeying Kit 4 Tool & 100 Pin Series By Olympia Hardware Kit. It feel very solid still after a winter of use. I installed on my garage door and the door was too thin to install this right (assembly bolts bottomed out and the knob was still loose in the hole), so I had to add in a shim to make the door wider. One Note: you can still turn the inside of the handle when it is locked, but this has not been an issue for me.

1Sticky, stuck, returned.Jul 28, 2011
By Alex McCarthy
I bought this door knob set from a local hardware store. It was to replace an interior door knob. I installed all the hardware very easily, and started to test it out. Wow.... the door knob wouldn't spring back after turning it, to let yourself in/out. You have to force it to pop the little plunger back out. It felt like maybe there was a piece of rock being broken up inside the mechanics of this thing.. I took the unit apart, re-installed, repeat, repeat... No success. I even tried using my old plunger thingy, and it didn't fit. I added some lithium grease to all of the moving parts inside, and it still would grind to a "seized" position - with the plunger part-way out. What a piece of junk! When I assembled the whole thing - just in my hand, to watch it.. It would stick horribly as well. It looked like part of the outer knob part, was hitting and twisting up on the plunger part. I even went so far as to make a nylon washer to separate these two parts that looked to be the problem. Nope - no success. I'm returning it. PS - I put my generic junky interior doorset back on, and it's as smooth as butter. (that doesn't lock teenagers out of that room)
