As a homeowner and previously as a landlord, I've installed a lot of door knobs and locksets. I've used Kwikset, Schlage, and Defiant (Home Depot house brand). I find the Kwikset locks to be finicky - in particular if you accidentally over tighten them they just don't work very well, and if you don't tighten them, they always come loose. I bought a Defiant lock once because it was inexpensive, but it seems to work & install just like the Kwikset, so I won't do that again.

Now that I've tried Schlage, that's all I buy. They're not the least expensive, but I like the fact that they install quickly and never seem to need any adjusting. You can install them nice and tight, and they just work, and they don't eventually loosen. Never had a problem. So for me, these just work - which is all I'm really asking for.

One note though, I don't like using Schlage hinges (for interior doors) since they don't have a removable pin. I'd just get an inexpensive hinge on Amazon that matches the finish of the knob and has a removable pin. That way, if/when you ever have to remove the door, it's quick & easy.

These are the exact same Schlage knobs that you can buy at Lowe's or Home Depot, but the price is a lot better here on Amazon.

After living in our house for 5 years, the original brass builder knobs were looking horrible so we went through and replaced all the knobs in our downstairs with these. We also replaced the other hardware; such as hinges, door stops, etc... at the same time. The results were amazing and it really made a huge difference in how our house looked.

Two years later we decided to replace all the knobs upstairs and we had the same results. These look a lot better than the standard builder-grade knobs and they hold up a lot better too.

These aren't the high-dollar solid knobs, but they do look good and they hold up great to abuse. We have 3 kids and it seems like all their friends are always here playing - and the knobs still look and function great after 2 years. We've been really pleased with them.

As far as the installation goes, these really couldn't be easier. If you can work a screwdriver, you can install these knobs. It only takes a couple of minutes per door.

If you're looking for good knobs to dress up your house just a bit, then I highly recommend these.

Very easy to install, only required one tool. The installation directions were terrible (contained pretty much pictures only), but it was easy to figure out just by looking at the pieces and how my existing knob was installed. Really spruced up my doors now that they don't have shiny brass knobs anymore, and the price was better than I found anywhere else.

I bought five of these. On three of them the pinhole for unlocking is significantly off center and the knob looks really bad. I expected better of Schlage.

Since I know that Schlage doorknobs are the best, I bought them for my upstairs re-do recently. The color is perfect for the new decor up here; the doorknobs are the best, as I said already, and I am pleased with the whole thing. Wouldn't buy anything but Schlage.
