5Marine paintOct 24, 2008
By No Perfect Catbox "NPC"
This paint was easy to apply, has super gloss, and was relatively fast drying. There are other more costly marine paints, but I feel that this is a good buy for the money.

5Forget that high dollar marine paint and USE THIS!Aug 27, 2011
By Andrew D Stairs
I picked this paint for ease of repair on a daysailer hull. I was thinking that were I lake sailed I would need touch ups quite often and I this fit the bill. The first huge surprise was how well it self leveled. Just roll it on and leave it. No tipping required. Flat I mean FLAT, It was amazing. The only problem was that it spoiled me. I thought all marine paints must be like this. So when it came time to paint the deck I went with one part epoxy paint three times the price of this. Huge mistake on my part. I should have stuck with Rustoleum. It was a 9 coat ordeal with wet sanding brush & roller marks out between. Even with their thinner, Flowout additive, and adjusting mixes per a factory rep via email it still didn't flow out like Rustoleum. I learned my lesson. The hard way!

5Extraordinary PaintApr 04, 2011

I don't usually take the time to review products but this one is pretty excellent, so I will go the extra mile.
I do not own a boat so I cannot speak to other marine paints, but this one is certainly cheaper than any of the others I found, and available in 1 qt. increments, which is always helpful.

It was used to paint an outdoor planter box; so far it's held up a year in pretty nasty conditions with absolutely no change whatsoever. I feel like the wood underneath will probably rot internally before the paint 'fails', leaving a hollow shell of Rustoleum. Actually I sort of hope that happens, that would be amazing.

No prep was really necessary (or if it was, I didn't do it), but the application was still quite easy. As someone else noted it does 'self level' for brush strokes, but it will not compensate for egregious drips, etc.

The only thing I will note is that you should probably wear elbow length gloves if possible, and use a paintbrush you're not terribly fond of. As you can imagine, this paint is insanely waterproof even when not fully dry, and it's pretty tough to get out of brushes or off skin. I tried paint thinner, denatured alcohol, Gojo, Lava soap...I eventually had to resort to a green scrubby on my hands to avoid looking like I had stabbed Gumby (green paint).

The bottom line is, have no reservations about purchasing this. I would absolutely buy again, except it's not necessary since it's so awesome and will clearly last a long time.

5Excellent PaintJan 24, 2011
By Sonja K. Hopper
After reviewing all of the "reviews", I sat out to accomplish a professional look. I prepped my area well then sanded lightly. I primed the surface with a compatible primer and gave my project 2 coats (as recommended), sanding in between. The completed project is one of a professional! After only 2 days, my "project" became wet but the shine and quality of the paint held up. I love the "self-leveling"...you can't see the brush strokes at all! I would recommend this paint for anyone wishing to accomplish a professional look.

5Surprisingly excellentMar 12, 2010

I bought this when Lowe's carried it. I hastily applied it - little to no surface prep and one pass with a roller - but I was pleasantly surprised with the results. I'm going to paint another boat with this very soon, but I plan on doing the proper prep and several coats this time - should come out well!
