Scratched sink, utensils fall through long openingsSep 13, 2010

I used these racks in my white, porcelain sink basins for four years. The plus side is that they sit up high enough off of the bottom of the basin to allow food particles to be washed down the disposal with a rinse of the hose, without having to lift the rack. The hole in the middle is definitely a necessity when using this over a disposal.

The downsides are that this rack has two long pieces of coated wire on either side that serve as the part which rests directly on the sink basin. I prefer the racks that have four rubber feet. This long section of material directly touching the basin eventually made thousands of tiny scratches in their path, and when stained they are very obvious.

I was also frequently frustrated that there were not any pieces of wire running in a perpendicular direction on each end of the unit. A grid would be a much better design. Utensils can easily fall through those long, narrow openings between wire.

There was a little mix-up with this order. They sent me too many of the racks. I contacted the merchant and asked them to correctly charge my credit card as I really like these racks and cannot find them locally.

Would you believe it? They said that I should keep the extra racks at no charge. That was terribly nice of them. Good product. Good company. Happiness abounds.

This is my second Rubbermaid Sink Rack. I love it. I have no scratch marks on the bottom of my sink. Wonderful product.

What can I say; it is what it appears to be and works great (assuming it fits your sink). It is 10.5" x 12.6" I'm not sure I like the hole in the middle--silverware and glasses like to fall down in there; and how hard is it to lift the rack whenever you need to clean the drain instead of reaching through a hole? I think it'd be better to have one without the hole in the middle.

Just what I ordered, they are great for the sink to protect it, I use them all the time, but these are the best made I've seen and last the longest. I'm really happy with them.
