A quick and easy way to make the soles of your socks or slippers non-skid is to use a product from the hardware store. "Plasti-dip" is a paint like substance marketed for making the handles of tools less slippery. For socks, use a foam paint brush, and daub the Plasti-dip on to the soles. No more skidding on hardwood or tile floors.

For a spray on solution, the same company also sells an aerosol package. Seems like the daub on method would be easier to control, though.

Does work but for most tools you will need to paint on because the handle cannot be totally covered by use of dipping into the can. Must set up a drying area prior to starting the process.

Its PlastiDip - does just what you expect it to. Has a couple tools with slick grips that it fixed right up. Love the red, too!

I use this on some old shoes so I can walk the dog and kick their ball and not get wet feet from the walking environment. Works good, pretty strong - yes, eventually gets some cracks in it - but that's probably after a few hundred full force ball kicks and 2 months of use. Still stayed fairly waterproof - but this product was most likely not made for shoes! ha ha.
