5Excellent, jam free, bronze bearing pulley for supporting ham radio wire antennasApr 06, 2011

I use a number of these for the counterweighted lines holding up a number of ham radio wire antennas.. The problem with other pulleys I have used for this purpose is the lines running off the pulleys and jamming due to sloppy pulley/block clearances. These pulleys are very well designed with good tolerances and won't jam, or rust up..

I ordered this pulley to replace a plastic pulley on my wife's exercise machine that had broken. The manufacturer wanted to charge us over $30 for another flimsy plastic pulley. This pulley worked perfectly and will probably never need to be replaced.

I originally bought four National 1 1/2" double pulleys to rig an eight-pulley block and tackle using 3/8" poly/nylon rope, but the system had too much friction and didn't operate smoothly. I replaced the pulleys with eight National 3" pulleys and now it works great. It is rigged for a 7/1 lifting advantage, ignoring friction. I just built a new garage that was designed with a 4' x 4' opening in the ceiling and floored above for storage. I use the block and tackle and a lifting platform to move stuff into and out of the storage area. I have to pull a lot of rope (about 90') to lift or lower the platform, but I can move heavy items with ease. I did a lot of looking before settling on National pulleys and found them to be the best quality per dollar out there.

Just what I needed. It's a pulley block that I used to help winch myself and my truck out of the mud. Perfect.

This is a well made pulley, that does what it was designed for. And it does it very well. There's not much more one can say about it, even though Amazon requires 20 words. So maybe now i've reached 20.
