Upon release, when the plunger hits it's stop there is metal to metal contact that creates a loud "clack." I had to add a piece of firm foam about 1/8" thick between the plunger and the plunger stop to quiet it down. This reduced the stroke by about 1/8" so it had to be mounted slightly higher. Otherwise it is just what I needed.

This door stop does what it is supposed to. Except stop the door. I have hardwood floors, and I believe the rubber foot is too hard, so the door still moves around in the wind. It would probably work fine on carpet.

This device is very easy to install and use. It will not hold open a self-closing door on a slippery floor like smooth glazed tile, but that shortcoming can be overcome with a self-adhesive button.

I was surprised that I couldn't find this item at the two local big box home improvement stores. Amazon to the rescue again. Ordered online and received the item ahead of schedule. Installed immediately on my side garage door. The door stop holds the door against even a strong afternoon breeze. Easy to engage/disengage. 5 stars for me!
