Great Chain LockNov 04, 2010

This lock is great to have for any door in your house. And you can have a chain lock on your outside door even when you are not home. It comes with 2 keys that great so you don't have to get a key made. It's not hard to assemble and it looks good with the brass finish. I think this is a great chain lock.

I ordered a few of these which is how I found out any of the keys to these opens all of these. So basically if someone is trying to break into your house and they have a lock like this they can use there own key to open. Not a great setup.

I bought two, thinking I might use another one elsewhere, but I ended up using the second after the first locking mechanism fell apart; the key pulled the entire lock out. The screws that come with the lock strip easily, so make sure you drill a good pilot hole first, and tighten by hand.

I had one of these years ago and had to leave it behind when I moved. (The piece with the lock on it has one-way screws) I looked for a long time before I found one online. The stores I searched (physically) either didn't have them or wanted an arm and a leg. (More than 3X the cost of this website, even including shipping)
I'm very happy with the purchase. I recieved the package less than a week after placing the order. I know a chain lock is not the best security measure in the world, but it lends the idea that someone is home when the door is chained. I love these locks!

It worked well for several months. Then, one day, the lock cylinder pulled
out still attached to the key. Its easy enough to stick back in, but you
know, it shouldn't really come out! Anyhoo, not the sucker needs to be
replaced - I don't know how secure it really is anymore.
