3Good quality but not best product for meApr 15, 2009

These are very well made and durable, but did not suite my needs.

I got these traps based on some online comments describing wild success. However, I did not fully understand how they work when I ordered them. They work by cutting two slots in the tunnel from above. You lower the trap into the slots and it rests on top of the tunnel. The trap has two wire loops that are supposed to reach to the bottom of the tunnel and a trigger that rests on top of a section of the tunnel that you collapse.

Unfortunately in my yard the tunnels are not visible, only the hills. Also the critter needs to actively digging to set off the trigger (reopening the tunnel that was collapsed). I tried this trap, but I had to dig holes to find the tunnel. I put the trap in the hole in line with the tunnel, but had no success.

I ordered a "cinch trap" from Gophers limited instead. These work by putting the trap into the tunnel opening at the hill. Then the critter sets it off just by hitting it, no digging required.

Depends on your situation, make sure you understand how they work first.

My husband has used this mole trap for over 20 years and we finally had to replace our original because he ran over it with the lawn tractor. Not more than an hour passed when we caught the first mole with the new trap. He likes this type because there's no blood and if the mole's not dead he just drowns it in a bucket of water. Don't feel sorry for them. We bought 2 this time so we can have more control when they enter from the front and back of the property.

For Years we have been trying to get rid of our Ground Moles. Got 3 traps about 10 days ago and my wife have already trapped 8 of them. Sure is nice we found something that works. So if you want a trap that works this is the one. The yard is looking so much better.

My first review was in Dec. of 2007. It is now July 2009. When I trap a mole I keep a record by making a chalk mark on the wall of an old smoke house on my property. There are now 51 chalk marks and I probably neglected to record a few. I am finished with keeping count. When you have the right product, it's just a matter of the more you use it the better you get with it.

This mole trap takes less work to set, i.e digging further into your lawn than the mole has already, than our other one. It does catch moles. Tricky to set but it gets the job done!
