Looks Nice, but that's about it.May 04, 2012

First of all, the brackets look nice, as advertized. However, one side of the bracket has two holes in it for mounting to the wall, one of the holes is blocked by the decorative pieces in the middle, which makes installation a little trickier than expected. Finally, there is only 1 hole in the other side of the bracket! This means that whatever shelf you install will be free to rotate up from the wall. I ended up having to get a couple of small brackets to put on top of the shelf to keep this from happening. To sum up - they are usable, but I can't in good conscience recommend them.

I like the style of these shelf brackets but not the way they mount to the wall.

The upper mounting hole is EXTREMELY close to the decorative structure bits and it is very hard to get it tight. There is a keyhole shape to the hole so you could put a screw into the wall and then slip the keyhole over it and slide down. If you had the screw in JUST right it wouldn't be too loose but that is assuming you had something tight to screw into and din't need to use a toggle bolt or something like that. They keyhole is also very small. I was trying to use #10 screws and the head of the #10 would not fit through the keyhole without me having to grind them smaller on a grinding wheel. This is a big shelf bracket that has the potential of carrying a lot of weight -using a screw any smaller than a #10 is not a good idea -dangerous even IMHO.

The people who designed the keyholes and where they put them (on the top behind the decorative structure) were no engineers -and if so, not very good ones. The top hole holds most of the weight and it needs to be stronger lest it pull out (the leverage of the bracket pulls out and not just down.) The way this is made is just not very smart.

3 stars only because they are very pretty and well finished. But they are a pain to mount securely.
