4Must use blade for Hamilton Beech, quality of blade not greatMay 12, 2007

I had a hamilton beach blender/mixer for many years, an inexpensive model I bought as a student. I used it for many years until it fell during transportation and cracked. I decided to buy another Hamilton. This time around I was disappointed with the blender. On close examination I found my newer "better" model and more expensive model had a blade that was not effective. The cutter part of the blade points upwards and just does not grind hard things like coconut etc. Worked fine for liquids. I researched some and found that others had similar problems. I finally found this blade, which is the original blade that Hamilton Beach had. No idea why they changed the blade. Now the blender works like a charm. The only problem to note is that the quality of blade is not great. It is chipped a little, so I have to be careful while handling the blade. The blade could have been a little better forged.

I bought this blade assembly for an older Hamilton Beach blender (model # 600-1). It fit perfectly into the pitcher's bottom screw cap, but there is a slight difference (about 1/16 inch) in the depth it extends into the blender's base unit. This difference causes the pitcher assembly to ride just a little high on the base unit, and makes for a slightly unstable fitting. I discovered that if you take a second o-ring seal (rubber gasket) and place it under the blade assembly before you screw on the bottom screw cap (so that there is a o-ring seal above AND below the blade assembly), it makes up for the height difference and fits securely into the base unit. For the minimum cost, you might want to go ahead and order a second o-ring seal at the same time.

I needed to replace a broken set of blades for a multi-use blender, did not want to just junk it. These blades were quick to replace and work great. Well worth the cost. Delivery came on schedule too.

5Good News for 14-speed HB Model Type 814Aug 08, 2008

Although there is a micro difference in the cut of the blades (a hair narrower), and the black things on the underside are taller, again by a noticeable hair, and the blade section shorter, in the end it is the same height as the old and this not only fits our Hamilton Beach Blender Type 814 (14-speed, also labeled the "ice breaker") just right, it is easier to unscrew AND it does a much better job of blending than the original ever did. The original used to balk just to puree cottage cheese. I just made a pasta sauce that involved chickpeas, fresh herbs and tomatoes. Piece of cake, under a minute, required little scraping down. I'm happy. Took another reviewer's advice and also purchased a new O ring. I also recommend it.

I received the blender cutter today and no blender jar gasket was included. I specifically ordered from this company because the description indicated the cutter assembly came with the blender jar gasket. Now I have to place a separate order for a blender jar gasket. The description is incorrect, you only get the cutter, not the cutter and the gasket.
