3Flop Head- Hard to put onMar 25, 2007
By Nevada Jones
This mophead cleans okay, but nothing special. Still leaves a few particles after you're done. The real problem, though, is that it is very difficult to replace. The mop has a sturdy metal latch ("hook") that you have to stick the head onto. But once it's on, you do feel confident that it will stay on until you're ready to take it off.

It took me forever to change the mop head. It didn't snap or slide on easily at all. I was ready to just buy a new mop by the time I finally got the thing on. Suggestion when changing the head ("refill"): HOLD the handle down very firmly so the little metal lever/hook has more wiggle-room to latch onto the head. Replace after 3 months for heavy-use homes (i.e. weekly), 1 year for mild-use (i.e. monthly).

1Short Life; Tall PriceAug 04, 2008
By Anne
I paid alot for this mop at a fancy hardware store thinking that I could always replace the mop head if it needed it, in a year or two. The entire sponge split apart after only a couple of light swipes at the floor. So then I tried to remove the degraded sponge and replace it and nearly crushed my fingers and hand doing it.

Worthless!

1Disintegrated After 2 WeeksJun 19, 2008
By Francesca G.
I bought this type of mop 2 weeks ago, but the sponge part split after 1 week's worth of very light use and after 2 weeks it has fallen apart completely. I will buy one more refill in case I just got a bad one the first time, but if the next one falls apart I'm switching mop brands.

1Can't rate it ZERO starsJul 26, 2011
By Turtle
In May, I bought one of these mops and a spare sponge head. I used it three times, always with just plain water, rinsing it carefully every time. Within three or four weeks, the entire head disintegrated. Just fell apart. I emailed O Cedar, including pictures of the destruction. The best thing they could suggest was, "send it back to us, we'll have a look at it." Since they didn't include an address, and since they didn't offer to pay the postage, I wrote it off as a manufacturing anomaly and put the other head on.

That wasn't the easiest thing, because the mop handle wringer mechanism was badly designed, but I'm reviewing the head here, not the handle.

I put the new head on July 10 and took a picture of it in its pristine state. Used it once, again in just plain water, rinsed it carefully, and put it aside to dry. Today, just sixteen days later, I tried to use the mop and after soaking the head in water and attempting to wring it, the ENTIRE sponge head tore completely off its frame.

O Cedar has already gotten the pictures, and a tart email saying that if they want to study it, they can send me a pre-paid box. What I've got right now is a useless mop handle for which I refuse to ever spend EIGHT DOLLARS on another replacement head.

This thing is garbage. If you were thinking of buying it, save yourself a lot of trouble. Just take eight bucks and wipe your butt with it, then flush it down the toilet.

1O Cedar refill is not the same as the old ViledaOct 20, 2011
By D. Deep
I've had a Vileda "Roll-O-Matic" wringer mop for about the past six years. In that time, I believe I had to replace the original mophead once. The Vileda roller wringer system really worked well and did a great job of squeezing out as much dirty water as possible. Also the ribbed texture on the mophead did a nice job of loosening up the mud that my dogs would track onto my kitchen floor. The Vileda-branded refill mops were very durable, lasting years without requiring replacement.

Sadly it appears that "O Cedar" is now making a lower quality version of the old Vileda design. Google searches for "Vileda Pro Scrub Mop Refill" bring up this O Cedar refill, and there appears to be no source for the original Vileda refills anymore. I bought one of these O Cedar refills and after struggling with trying to get the O Cedar refill to fit into my old Vileda handle, I've given up. I've tried using a screwdriver, pliers, etc. but the problem seems to be the shape of the refill itself. The Vileda refill had a metal bar that was about 3/4" deep which slid between the ribbed rollers and allowed the tab on the refill to engage the J-shaped hook in the mop handle. The new refill is much flatter and it seems there is pretty much no way to get it to engage. Also the metal loop into which the hook connected is much smaller and more shallow on the new refill. (For a comparison, see the photo I've posted.) As a result of my several attempts, the ribbed rollers have chewed up a good bit of the sponge material of the new refill; I wouldn't be surprised if this explains why so many users have seen their new mop heads crumble and fall apart.

I'm sure this new refill fits the newer mop handle, but I don't see why it was necessary to change the design just enough to force everyone to have to go out and buy an all new mop. Based on the many negative reviews of the new system, it doesn't work very well anyway.

Very disappointing.
