For the past couple of months, I've been deeply involved in a long term demolition/renovation of my home and grounds. So, I've gotten a good look at my old pry bars and found them seriously lacking. First, I bought the Shark Corp 21-2225 10-Inch Prybar and Nail Puller because I was working on a wooden privacy fence and needed the smaller size. It worked great until I got into some heavier stuff that needed more leverage than I could get with the 10" Shark.

I then bought this Estwing, because it looked like it would work very much similar to the Shark, and it does, but on steroids! This pry bar is my absolute favorite for most anything that needs wrecked. The 90 degree head works great, allowing you to hammer blows for either chisel end, getting you under or through something very quickly. They got the angles on both heads just right for me. Since I don't routinely tear down complete houses, I can't imagine ever needing a different set of pry bars than the 2 that I have now.

This is by far the best crowbar for any construction job. I have been using it for 2 apartment rehab projects. The most effective part that makes this crowbar stand out from others is the 90 degree angle on the one end. Use this inconjunction with a hammer on the flat side, and you can get under any piece of wood. I have not had any problems getting studs out in my 100+ year old house. The durability is outstanding as well.

I couldn't find this at lowe's or home depot and you can't beat the online price.

great for tearing apart old framing or structure, pulling nails, prying lumber into place, and generally jacking stuff up....strong and durable

I bought one of these about 7 months ago, because if the I-Beam design, wedge type heads and size. I used to use a typical "flatbar" from Home Depot which works great. After witnessing them snap in half under extreme force and being tired of wasting energy on framing and such I bought one as soon as it was available. I was impressed immediately by the strength, with the wedge heads you can easily demo something as simple as door casings to difficult door headers. I find myself looking for it because all my co-workers run off with it. The only downside is the 18 inch length, in my tool bags it seems to hit everything possible, but still well worth it. Best pry-bar I've ever used!

Without being too heavy, this 18-inch bar is much more effective by virtue of longer leverage (thank you, Archimedes) than your run-of-the-mill flat bar. Pulling 16d nails, for example. And because the effort is lower, the safety factor is higher....much easier to control demolition (which should be a smooth disassembly process, not violent destruction.) An affordable addition to any tool collection.
