5Works. Period.Nov 12, 2010
By R. Boatman
Referring to an earlier review, I am not sure why somebody would pan a product called "Cricket and Spider Trap" for its inability to catch something that is neither a cricket nor a spider, but: three months after placing one trap in my furnace crawlspace, I started seeing crickets again. I went to check the trap and was dumbfounded by what I saw - every square millimeter was full of dead crickets. Based on the occassional cricket or two I used to see upstairs, I figured a dozen crickets; there must have been over a hundred, including numerous nymphs that I never saw no doubt because they first had to grow up in order to jump their way up the stairs. Clearly they did not simply jump into the trap by coincidence - this thing is a cricket magnet and and works where sprays and glue strips have failed. Most highly recommended!

5Works greatJun 25, 2010

Couldn't be happier. We had a growing cricket problem in our laundry room. I put two of these out one night, they were full in the morning, and haven't seen a cricket since.

5Like a CharmFeb 14, 2010

We were plagued by crickets. These trays worked like a charm in the basement where the crickets breed. Crickets and spiders are trapped, which in turn attracts the occasional mouse. They are fairly easy to handle and dispose of. It is a much better solution than poison.

5Going BuggySep 10, 2010

Maybe crickets are good luck and maybe spiders catch other insects, but I don't want them in my house. They are creepy, and the incessant songs of the lovesick crickets are annoying. The JT Eaton traps are easy to use; just separate the four pest strips and lay them down. These traps work as well for us as any other traps. They're long and thin, perfect for placing in corners and along walls.
Mrs. Spudman bought an electronic repeller for the spiders who only laughed at it.

Use these traps, and the luck of the crickets will not help them.

I have one of those Rubbermaid-type patio storage benches with a lid with reinforced grid-like plastic supports underneath. A black widow spider has moved into one of the sections at the back and since it sounds like none of the common insecticide sprays work on black widows, I thought I'd try the glue trap.

I steeled up my nerve and positioned the trap immediately below the nest so that when I close the lid the spider itself is about an inch away from the trap. There's almost no room for the spider to go where he can avoid the trap. However, each day I go out, lift the lid only to watch him scurry into a dark corner of his abode. The trap is still totally clean of anything, even though the entire bench must be crawling with critters. I had hoped at the very least, something would stumble into it and attract my unwelcome guest.

I assume that - IF - something walks across the trap, it will get stuck (although for all I know, this spider is dancing on it all night long). If you can position the trap so something must walk across it and has no other option, it might work for you. Maybe.
