I have a 1 acre lot with mole infestations in 3 areas.

1st. I tried the "noise emiting stakes" to be a little humane. Essentially they worked as an inviting drum beat to entertain and attract the moles.

2nd. I tried the traps that are "underground" so I could mow over them. An engineer was required to dig the required perfectly shaped hole, then only a stampede of horses would set them off.

3rd. The 490 Mechanical Plunger Mole Trap. I got 8 of them. I don't have time to figure out which tunnels are "active" so I bought a bunch and put them on every tunnel I see. I had 1 mole on the first day. I have had a few of them go off but I never found a carcass. I have new thick sod so its hard to pull the mole to the surface.

I think new traps need to be "broken in" to make them a little more sensative.

I'll try to update again in the spring when the moles are active again. (Indiana)

I bought four of these traps. They wwork great. The only problem is the spikes are starting to rust. They must be made of steel. They are a little more heavy duty than the Sweeney's 9011 mole traps but the Sweeney's mole traps have stainless steel spikes that won't rust.

The moles are gone and I've tried everything. This isthe only way to get rid of them and it's real easy to use.

I've used this type of trap before, 'Have not caught the little devil yet. It seems Florida moles are a bit smarter than the Northern variety. The trap will eventually do the job, just have to get the mole to go through the gate and not around it.

If I had it to do over again,I would not purchase these traps.Do not get me wrong,they are as shown and do work,but wish I had spent the money on poison worm bait instead,they work better,quicker,and much,much easier...
