5Wow - Nothing but grins about this grinder!Mar 10, 2007
By Amanda L. Mcclure
I needed a grinder to restore an old Porsche so I went shopping. I really liked the on/off switch position on the Milwaukee grinders. Most others had these inconveniently placed switches. The D28402K's switch is pretty good. It is very comfortable in your hand and light. And the power... OH WOW! I sharpened my lawn mower blade in just a few minutes. I can't believe that I had sharped them by hand before.

The case in very nice. It is heavy duty plastic. There is a holder in there for your grinding and cut off wheels. The handle can be put on either side if you are left or right handed.

Bottom Line - I love it. This is my second DeWalt too. It won't be my last.

5Power to spare!Aug 05, 2006
By C. Birenbaum
I needed a new grinder for grinding a concrete patio. My previous one burned out (it was a cheap one - $30, 5.8 amps). I decided to go with a good one this time. It has power to spare (10amp). Never slowed down during my grinding like my old one. It also did not get overheated like my old one. This is a great addition to my tool collection - especially Dewalt.

Even came with a carrying case.

5"My first grinder"Jun 07, 2007
By J.M. "Mr. DIY"
I've used grinders at work but I've never owned one of my own. Now dewalt may not be top dog when it comes to technology or enervation (like Bosch or Panasonic) but they usually make simple, tough and reasonably affordable tools. That's really about all the counts. Most grinders I've used seems to be about the same in design so I didn`t care much about witch I picked as long as it was a good name brand. I started my tool collection off with dewalt long ago so that's what I have stuck with. I like that paddle switch on this one, they are fragile but easy to work with. This particular one is self off locking, there is a little bit you have to rotate to push the switch down that`s on the switch. It was a little strange at first but quickly became comfortable to do. Also this one can be held on, as most can, simple click the paddle and it turns off. The only thing I don't like is that if you where to drop it that locking mechanism on the paddle part of the switch may brake... The handle is a simple screw in, screw out deal that you can put on ether side of it. I don't need to cut structural members all day so the 10 amps, 11K rpm and 4-½" size are plenty for round the shop jobs. Fast and powerful enough to cut a car frame but not to fast to use mild "scotch bright" type abrasives if need be. This one has a quick change threaded washer witch can be use for cutting disks or grinding disk without needing a backing ring or spacer for proper clamping and centering.

The case has provisions for holding disks (7/8" hole), right now I've got four 1/8" cutting, one ¼ grinding and two flap wheels in the holder. The tool still fits level in the case but any more and it might not. I don't think screw on accessories are made to fit in the holder (as it has a 5/8 thread), but there is room in the case for a crimp brush or what ever else wont fit in the disk holder.

Over all not a bad package for a hundred bucks or so.

5Power to the peopleJul 27, 2009

There are dozens of ways to cut materials with varying degrees of success. If you already use the standard ones, especially a sawzall with a full set of blades you might feel you have your bases covered. But having this DEWALT D28402K in your arsenal makes life so much easier. I purchased one for a bathroom renovation and steam room project and needed something that would cut everything from cement board to concrete to wire mesh. This Dewalt exceeded all my expectations. The extra power this model has over others eats through everything like a hot knife through butter with no stress on the motor and no slowing or strain. I found myself reaching for it to make quick cuts in sometimes cramped places and in seconds the job was done. It did some cuts that would have been impossible using anything else especially with a diamond cutting wheel attached. The construction feels solid and durable and I believe it will give me years of service. I don't stay loyal to any one brand and buy what seems to have the best specs and user reviews. After much research and due diligence I chose this model over other makes and brands and I couldn't be more satisfied. If you're a DIYer you might not have considered owning a small angle grinder in the past. But once you've used one like this Dewalt, you'll find yourself reaching for it for jobs you might not have imagined.

5The Daily Grind...Nov 28, 2007
By Stephen Davis "Monsignor"
There are tools - then there are DeWalt tools. If it spins or cuts you need to strongly consider DeWalt. I bought this grinder a few years ago and it is a work horse. There was a day that I spent HOURS grinding edges and such and this little puppy never skipped a beat, never overheated and never let me down.

The grinder is pretty much rearing to go right out of the box. Just be sure to read the manual BEFORE operating the unit! Get your eye protection at the ready, screw in the handle in the appropriate socket (there are at least 3 options for mounting the handle), plug the grinder in and go go go!!

Replacement and specialty pads are easy to find here at Amazon as well as home centers.
