I have used the Dasco #640 24 inch shingle ripper for years and recently purchased another one to give as a gift for a friend. I have found this tool extremely useful to remove and replace individual shingles without the need to remove more than the single shingle to be replaced. I highly recommend this tool as it is reasonably priced and does exactly what it was designed to do.

This bar really works good on roof repairs, when you have to lift a couple of shingles and renail them back down. the bar will hold the nail on ether side of the bar so you don't have to hold the nail's with your hands and try to hold the shingle up at the same time. the bar works wonder full bought three of them for the crew.

Fantastic quality and so easy to use. Many uses besides taking off shingles. This tool will last you a lifetime, like one I used 35-40 years ago. Thank goodness they are still around. Anyone restoring a house needs one.

I have owned the same one of these for about 14 years. I do not use it to try to cut nail heads off, I use it to completly remove (pull out) the nails holding down asphalt shingles that have been damaged and need replaced. I was told that that is what it was designed for and that is what I use it for. It is so easy to use, my wife used to use it (5'5" - 115 lbs) to help me doing roofing repairs. If you want a tool to do something else, buy a different tool.

NOt exactly what we were looking for. Wanted to be able to remove one shinle at a time, by cutting nails, this method is for ripping many.
