5Works well, best used in a well ventilated spaceAug 06, 2011

I read some of the other reviews and don't understand the low rating as they both say the product works well. I haven't had any issues with the cap cracking and have a tube I opened over 8 months ago and it is still as fresh as it was when I opened it. I used this product to fix a leaking humidifier as I wanted a product that was rated for food contact. It worked really well and haven't had an issue with the repaired part. I did notice that this stuff has a very strong smell when curing. I know that it is the chemical that is used to cure the silicone but if this was used in a small unventilated area it might be overwhelming.

Dap must have changed the sealing cap on this product, because it splits open when you try to close the tube. I have brought this product years ago and had no problem with it, so I can only assume that they have gone to a cheaper cap rendering the sealant useless for future use because you can't get a tight seal. That is why I have only given this a two star rating.

If you get this the sealant works fine - but the cap is faulty - it splits open and so you don't get a second use out of the tube because it solidifies..
