We needed to change out our Moen shower cartridge. Thinking it was a do-it-yourself no brainer, we got so far as to pull out the inner part of cartridge. Great, but the outer cartridge sleeve was stuck inside the pipe. There was no getting it out. We tried everything!
After some research on the web, and thanks to others before us who had tackled this same dilemma and wrote about it on the web, we found out about this tool. It works like a key. You insert the long skinny part until that little tab clicks into place inside the cartridge. Turn a little and pull hard. It actually works! We were doing the happy dance in the bathroom because this tool kept us from having to rip out the plumbing and replace it completely.

I bought this puller to remove a stuck Moen 1222 cartridge. However the stem of the cartridge is too long for this tool to be very useful. You can use it to pull the cartridge out once it is unstuck but the design does not allow it to reach the slot to loosen the cartridge.

Had a dripping tub faucet for quite a long time. Using YouTube, I was educated on the replacement of the cartridge and the fact that sometimes they don't come out so easily. I found this Moen cartridge puller on Amazon at a very reasonable price and decided to try it. The instructions weren't the best on how to use it, but in a minute or so I figured out how to attach the puller to the cartirdge, and after a few good tugs, the cartridge came out. Couldn't have replaced the cartridge without it. I recommend it. Thanks Danco.

This tool did the job. I could not have removed the old cartridge with out it. If you have more than one faucet that uses the Moen cartridges, get this device.

The sinking feeling when you pull a Moen cartridge and only the center comes out is not nearly as bad when you have this puller in your arsenal. I've only used it twice, but it has removed the rest of the cartridge both times. A must have if you work on Moen faucets.
