5If you got the cash, get this rifle.Sep 13, 2009
By Matthew Browne
I absolutely love this gun. The heft, the accuracy, the tru-glow site and most of all the power. I got this rifle at a local store about 5 years ago or so and it was by far the best [...] bucks I've ever spent. Rite from the get go I wanted a airgun that was inexpensive, realistic, accurate and had variable power. This gun fit the mould and then some. I use it primarily as a hunting/pest control rifle but is just as fun to target shoot with it. I left the gun completely stock I just painted the stock and forearm OD green. I've taken many animals with this gun like squirrels, chipmunks, rats, woodchucks, rabbits, skunks, and raccoons. This thing is durable! Don't be afraid to use this gun, mine has been dropped, stepped on, left in the rain, caked in mud and every time you pull that trigger it will fire. And don't be afraid to over cock this I've pumped mine up 20 or so times and it worked fine and wow is it powerful at that point! But I will say this Get pointed pellets dont use BB's unless your just plinking. What else can I say if you got the money, get this rifle. It's absolutely worth it.

5Cant be beat!Mar 25, 2011

I have had 2 of these over the past 30 yeas or so. Lot's of folks complain because it has a plastic stock and forearm. But the reality here is this helps the rifle to remain light weight.
Accurate? It's deadly! The noise of the BB's rattling around in the stock can be annoying and a dead give away when trying to stalk some prey. You can avoid this by only putting in enough to fill the magazine OR you can carry the BB's and pellets in your pocket and load one when you cock.
I live in a suburban area and am constantly bothered with squirrels and rabbits. I use BB's at 2 pumps to chase them off. When a river rat comes in my yard ( I only live 2 blocks from the Arkansas river), he gets a full 10 pumps and a pellet. It's not something I use every day, but when I need it it's there.
If you are interested in multiple target shooting, look into a CO2 rifle. If you want something that's dead accurate with a single shot, this is the gun to get!!!!

4Not for the incautiousJul 14, 2006

The Crosman 2100 is not a gun to get if you've never owned an air rifle before. It's got a good amount of power and of course there's the added bonus that you can fire both pellets and BBs with it. It has the option of carrying up to 100 BBs in the stock for convenient reloading; this is good for target-shooting but is very noisy and not useful for stealth. It requires quite a bit of cleaning, though, and tends to rust fairly easily. Other than that, it's very durable, dependable, and versatile. I lived in Africa when I had mine, and it lasted through everything I threw at it, including high heat, dust, sand, water, and mud. It's a bit louder than some models I've used, but it's accurate up to approximately 100 feet (with a scope attachment). Some people find it hard to pump up, but after you've done it for a while you get used to it. It's also relatively easy to take apart if you need to ship it in a smaller carrying case. It's perfect for small-game hunting but a little too powerful to give to your twelve-year-old nephew. It is NOT a rapid-fire weapon, so if you're doing any hunting you really only have one shot. I enjoyed my experience with mine.

2DisappointedSep 20, 2011

I own several air rifles already but for fifty-five bucks I figured I would try out the Crosman 2100B. Suffice to say it was a waste of money.

Strait out of the box the gun would not work. The bolt was stuck and no amount of pulling from me could get it open. I had to disassemble the gun to figure out what the issue was. Crosman does not recommend this and you can see why once you open it up, everything basically falls apart. This was a good thing for me however since the gun was improperly assembled. After a few tweaks by me and a reassembly the bolt was functioning (I still need to leave the side screws a tad lose otherwise the bolt is very hard to open, perhaps Crosman need to check the specs on their parts once in a while?).

Once I got the gun out and started shooting I found it quite lackluster. The forearm stock is fairly long compared to say my 760 and requires a good bit of force to get up to the 10 pumps. I found the accuracy to be mediocre at best. My groups were around an inch to an inch and a half at maybe 15 to 18 yards. (Windless day with Crosman pointed pellets) Another issue I discovered after just a few shots is that the forearm stock tends to bend too much while pumping despite my best efforts to keep it strait. This has resulted in a deep gouge in the plastic after a days use.

This gun feels like it is trying to be a hunting air rifle, yet has the performance and materials of a everyday BB pinker. SO my recommendation is get one or the other, or both, not something that is trying out the middle ground and failing all around.

3Crosman 2100BJan 20, 2012
By Bill Gaston
Besides reading many of the reviews I purchased the Crosman 2100 because I've had many years of use with the great 760 (5-star) and thought I'd try something newer. I cut my teeth on a Daisy (5-star) back in the 50s and while spending 25 years in the military I bought a 760, which I subsequently had stolen, then a second one in the early 80s that just recently would not hold the pump-up. This 2100 looks well but the mechanical operation and bolt action design (0-star) by the Crosman engineers certainly blew it in my opinion. They should have taken a lesson from the design of the 760 and left well enough alone -- if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The bolt action is what ruined this toy. If you can get it open and then closed, its a feat in itself. The bolt lever and moving parts are plastic and just how much abuse it/they will take before breakage is a major concern. I'm also concerned about loosing or breaking the trapdoor where you load BBs in the stock. I noticed while trying to actually chamber a BB and the bolt wouldn't go forward that when pulling it back more than once, multiple BBs would load. Something I never had a problem with a 760 -- the bolt doesn't recede enough for more than one BB to chamber and is something that simply shouldn't happen. I consider this a design flaw by Crosman and something that should get fixed (0-star). The 2100 is heavier than my old 760 with wooden stock and in my opinion it looks good (3-star). I just hope that within the next 30 days I can break this 2100 in enough before deciding to return it. I also hope the other parts that make a BB gun what they are will not fall apart prematurely but I'd wager the 2100's longevity will not equal the 760s gone before. Maybe I should have stuck with the 760s and not upgraded -- if that is what we can call it. I think my old 760 might get some new parts. So, if you're a kid -- which I'm not, and you don't have a lot of arm, hand, and muscle power, don't buy this 2100 vintage.

It has now been over a month and fooling with the 2100 I find the problem with the bolt action is no better than previously stated. Probably 20% of the time it is near impossible to pull the bolt back to cock the weapon. In addition, the BB feed doesn't operate as it should since about 20% of the time there is no BB being loaded after the weapon is cocked. In my opinion the 2100 is simply a good looking piece of junk that will frustrate the hell out of you.

My final and last comment concerning the 2100. After lots of rain and cool weather I finally got around to really sighting the weapon in -- or so I hoped. Shot 30 BBs at a targer posted 15 yards away with the 2100 in a vice so I knew it was steady. Each time the gun was pumped six times. The shot on the target was ANYWHERE in a 6-inch circle - left or right, top or bottom and very few close to a previous hole. Simply a piece of junk and not worth the money. If I could now give it a zero star, that is more than it is worth having.
