I purchased this item for my husband for tubing down the river. If you load it with drinks and ice, it will sink below the mid level opening and fill with water thus melting the ice. You will then have to empty the contents and start over to get it to float properly. It was more of a pain trying to get this thing to work than to take a regular cooler and put it in it's own tube. By the end of an hour float, the drinks were no longer cold. Why the makers didn't put some kind of seal on the opening and why they didn't make the opening further toward the top of the bobber is beyond me. I think R&D took a break while they put this product on the market. A few minor changes to this cooler could have made it a really good one.....but unfortunately the way it is currently constructed just makes it look neat and not functional at all. If you are looking for a cute novelty, then go ahead and purchase. But if you are looking for a functional cooler on the water, save your money.

Follow up: I just wanted to mention that we did find a use for this cooler. We use a small tube (from a lawnmower tire, I think) to put the cooler into and that seems to work fine. Of coarse, this method works with any cooler, so it's up to you whether or not the hassle is worth it. The tube does take away from the bobber appearance, but it still spurs comments from strangers as we float the river.

Great Idea... failed functionality.....This thing is not water tight.. Not only does water flood into it and melts ice in 10min.. But it also allows water into the insulated walls...which really makes the product float on its side and become pointless to use. Fun looking product zero functionality possible dangerous through any type of rapids. It was returned next day very disappointed.

We bought this cooler to use in our pool. It is great and can store quite a few drinks. It is very easy to open and just floats around so it is there when you need it. It is great to not have to get out of the pool to get a drink. The kids love it too. It is very easy for them to open as well. We haven't had any of the previously mentioned problems with the cooler filling with water from the pool and melting the ice or with it floating on its side. It just bobs around upright and all of our drinks have been chilled for hours. I think that if you don't fill it too full then it works great.

I bought this for my dad for his birthday and he loved it! He uses it whenever we go out on the boat and he always gets compliments on it...great gift idea for anyone who loves being out on the water!

Well this was a christmas gift. It is pretty damn cold up here in the north east and all the lakes are frozen so i havn't been able to try it out yet but it looks COOL!!!
