I was facing a fairly large edge banding project so I ordered a Band-it trimmer. Because I wanted to get going on my project before my trimmer came in the mail, I borrowed a Freud trimmer from a friend. I thought the Freud was OK but not great and I looked forward to the Band-it. Well, it is here and what a dissapointment, now the Freud looks great. The Band-it is better than nothing but you need to be very careful. It tends to follow the grain much more than the Freud and occasionaly it will pull right in so you are shaving some of the stock the banding is glued to.

This is a pretty worthless cutter. It jams with split little pieces and it very hard to get a nice cut with it. Use the Freud instead

This is the perfect trim tool for veneer products. Works well with wood and melamine edging. Use it on shelving projects and for kitchen cabinet refacing - love it.

Cutter does not work good on RTF edgebanding. It does not want to cut an edge that is right at the edge of the shelf and leaves a 1/6" raise. I ended up using a standard box cutter, which after a couple test cuts, I found just the right angle and pressure to get a professional edge (almost) every time.

Watch Ebay or Craigslist for ""Barely Used Band-it Trimmer and refill blades" CHEAP !!
