I replaced a SOLO backpack sprayer with this model. What a disappointment! The diaphragm pump was what pushed me to this particular model. As it turns out the diaphragm rubs against the pump axel and gets stuck on the return about half way up. It just looks like the bigger diaphragm pump was put on the same lesser model. Even if you accepted the fact that you have to pull the lever up on every pump, it is putting lateral pressure against the diaphragm which I am sure will make it wear out much more quickly.

A bigger and surprising aggravation was the fact that there is no belt. My SOLO has a padded waist belt which I deem essential when you are schlepping 40 pounds of water on your back. I was very sore after a hour of use. There is none pictured, so I guess that is my fault.

I was after a high quality backpack sprayer that would last. This was recommended to me as the best and was told I should pay the extra for the diaphragm pump. I put 6 tanks of spray through in 2 days of using it before the diaphragm pump started leaking. I rinsed it very well following the instructions after using it. I called up the distributor in Australia and was told the pump was not covered by warranty and a replacement pump would cost 70% of the price of the unit. No sorry and no explanation why a unit described as high quality would fail after minimal use.

Waste of money and of my time!!!!!

The customer service from Chapin is second to none. I had an issue with the strap system and this caused the sprayer to constantly fall to the side. I notified customer service which responded the next day and had me up and running in short order. The sprayer works as described. Paul
