5Best utility knife, Ever.Jan 11, 2008
By Will Shelley
A wonderful utility knife, definitely the best one I've ever used/owned. It has a hinged design which includes tool-less opening; just depress the button and it'll pop open (but enough force is required that you won't accidentally open it during use), and you can get to the 5-blade storage compartment inside. The blades are kept from moving around by means of a clip. There is also a magnet in the active blade holder, which ensures that changing blades will always go smoothly. It comes with 3 of the Lenox Gold utility blades.

The all-metal construction (no plastic parts, even inside) means it'll last for a very long time. Also, I've seen absolutely no "sticking" with the retracting button, which is rare as most utility knives I've used will occasionally "stick", even reputable brands like Stanley. Additionally, the single-piece nose design contributes to the overall life of the tool, because you can be as rough as you want with the tool and the halves won't separate at the nose like with other utility knives.

Thirdly, the SSRK1 features a quick-change blade feature where extending the blade and then pressing the retraction button to the side will allow you to replace or flip the blade quickly and easily.

Finally, people with hands of all sizes should find the grip comfortable, and the balance is excellent; it feels like the SSRK1 is custom-made just for your hand.

1does not lastNov 23, 2010
By R.H. "R H"
I finally gave up after my 3rd one went bad.
I really liked the knife with the feel and quick blade change. And I had bought a large supply of their blades. Also a standard stanley blade will not fit these knifes. But the little stubs that hold the blade in wear out real fast. I do not use them every day and got about 6 months out of each one. I would say it would hold up to about 1 or 2 hours of sheetrock use. They may last if only cutting cardboard but nothing else.
With a higher price it will not even last as long as the cheap ones. Matter of fact I have never worn out a utility before these.

3Not GreatMay 16, 2012

The sliding action is choppy and cheap feeling. Also has trouble snapping shut after getting a new blade. I went back to my Milwaukee cutter because I haven't found anything as comfortable or smooth. BTW, the Lenox Gold blades work great in the Milwaukee. It's the perfect combo.

5The best yet.Dec 05, 2011

I have tried a few knives over the years. This is the only one that seems to hold up to regular use/abuse. Easy to change the blades. Easy to open and refill the reservoir. Buy this one and it will last you a LONG time.

5Very good sheetrock knifeNov 01, 2011

I worked in the construction industry as a laborer for approximately two years, using this knife almost every day, finding it to be the best on the market. I actually just had to replace the knife because I made the mistake of letting someone else use my tools, and said person broke my knife. With that said, if you are a person who takes care of your tools, this is the knife to get.

Here is what I like about this knife:

1) It fits well in my hand. It really feels solid.
2) The knife is well made. The mechanism that retracts the knife does not rattle about, as it does on lesser quality knives. Also, the blades fit well and firmly stay in place.
3) The paint scheme is bright and durable. While it really does not affect the functionality of the knife, it is nice that the knife will still be white two years after you buy it. The red painted logo did wear off after about a year though.
4) The blades made by Lenox are durable and retain their sharpness longer than cheap blades do.

Here is what I do not like about this knife:

1) You have to use Lenox blades. Other blades do not fit and will not lock into place. These blades are not cheap either and are somewhat hard to find, just as Lenox knives are hard to find in mortar and brick stores (read as Home Depot and Lowes).

In any case, buy this knife and buy it here on Amazon. I have seen these knives go for up to $23. I paid less than half of that (including shipping) here on Amazon.
