I looked at many of the immersion blenders listed at the time of this purchase. This one is very affordable, but it had no reviews. I took a chance on it - going by the description of it. It is nicer than I thought it might be. It has a detachable shaft, that is 8 inches in length. There is a dial you put on the speed you want. The power button also has a pulse feature and that is one thing I need. I like the way it feels in your hand while using. It stands well and is not top heavy. I am very pleased with it. Oh - and it has all the power I will need.

5Immersion Blenders Are Great OverallOct 17, 2011

My use: I just needed something that could blend my vegetable soups fast but not make them into a complete liquid since my boyfriend likes some carrot chunks left in it. This is the first immersion blender I've gotten and I think it's WAY easier to blend things than even regular blenders! Plus, it's super easy to clean.

Pros: There are 3 power settings that are more powerful than I was expecting overall since I needed something that wasn't too powerful and that's why I got this because it has the "pulse" button. So even if it is on #1 power setting, I can even make it kinda less powerful but pulsing my stewed veggies and taking the blender out of the pot and tapping it on the side of the pot to get half cut-up chunks out of it. I also like how you can set the power setting to "zero" so that while it's not in use but still plugged in, you cannot accidentally hit the pulse button and set the blender off. And as I mentioned before, it's super easy to clean because the base is detachable and stands well while not in use. The beaker that comes with it is nice too but I wouldn't use it to blend anything in since there is a substantial amount of downward pull when you turn on the blender even on the lowest settings. I think the beaker really was just a complimentary measurement tool.

Cons: Hmm, I don't really see any except perhaps it might not be as powerful for some things and that's when you may need to research into higher powered immersion blenders. But I really feel this was great for the price and super easy to use since I didn't even look at the manual and was too excited to be able to make my soups way faster than the time I tried to use a hand cake-bater mixer.

Overall, I'm super happy with my purchase.

For the price I am amazed to works so well. It is much more powerful than expected and even on the lowest speed does a great puree on a pot of vegetables. I wish there was a slower speed--maybe half would be nice--because it creates a tremendous suction when using the supplied plastic cup. It wouldn't work too well in a cup of milk to add powdered chocolate because of the power at low speed. I use a small battery-powered blender for that but thought initially this would work a well. I have only used it a few times but it cleans easily with the bottom half that unscrews with a ~1/4 turn. No problems so far.

I purchased this product in May. I have used it 2-3 times. Last night while blending egg whites, the bottom (blade housing) of the blender broke off of the shaft. It was not nice.

Nothing spectacular, nothing wrong with it. Mixes eggs really well. Easy to clean. Sprayed ice cream all over the counter, but that was user error. Keep your cup covered.
