5Great Caulk RemoverApr 22, 2009

I had 20 year old latex caulk on a fiberglass tub/shower unit which remained after removing the shower doors; it was like concrete! This stuff worked lik a charm, but I had to leave it on for at least 24-36 hours (covered with plastic wrap) before I could scrape it off with a plastic scraper. And there was no damage to the fiberglass. I highly recommend it.

This product works! The plastic bottle said to apply a 1/8" coat and leave on for at least two hours, but that some types of caulk may require seven hours to soften. I applied the caulk remover and let it soak in overnight. When I tried to remove the 14-year-old bathtub caulk it came right off with very little effort. It made the job a breeze!

I was surprised when I found that this product also softened the RTV silicone and it crumbled off, but not nearly as easily as the caulk.

I bought this product after my husband couldn't scrape hard, 17-year old caulk off our tub surround without leaving marks on the fiberglass. You apply this stuff over the hard caulk and in a couple hours, you can easily scrape it off with a putty knife or something similar. You may have to reapply to thicker areas if it can't penetrate in one application, but that's not a big deal. I would definitely recommend this to anyone trying to remove rockhard caulk from a surface.

Thank goodness I found this product. We had an addition built on our house with a new bathroom. Well, I'm not sure what the contractor was thinking but the gap between the tub surround and the tub was extremely large and he attempted to shove a boatload of silicone caulk to cover it up. That quickly became a disaster as it really was not water-tight and we were left with a black moldy mess!

It's been so disgusting, we were able to peel a good amount of it off but there was still parts stuck on and this has been magic. I've been able to little by little apply this cream, wait and scape most of it off. I still have a bit to go but it looks tremendously better.

Now, if anyone has any advice what to do with these 1/4 to 1/2 gaps between the tub surround and the tub, I'm all ears! They will continue to have water sit in them until I figure something out.

This product works exactly as described. If I need to remove caulk in the future, I'm buying this product. It was easy to apply and the caulk came off with ease. It says to leave on for up to 7 hours for stubborn caulk, but I didn't have to wait that long. Great product!
